图派克对一些人来说只是一个匪帮说唱歌手，对另一些人来说，他是说唱圈里最棒的那个人。而对于更多的人来说，他是一个无穷尽的知识来源，他的生命虽然短暂，但却给许多人留下了指引和启迪人生的歌词。主流人士指责图派克的歌词中充满了不和谐和阴暗的内容，但事实上，图派克只是发现了这些真相并且把他如实的阐述了出来。不是图派克创造了这些阴暗，他只是揭露了它们。和许多不敢对抗主流说唱圈的Hiphop歌手不一样，图派克不单单把自己定位在一个娱乐大众的说唱音乐者上，他还把视角延伸到了整个社会事件上，这也导致他的歌词时常会因为过于真实而引起人群的恐慌。这就是为什么图派克充满争议却成为并且一直将会是Hiphop音乐圈内的偶像，这同样也是为什么很难再有一个Hiphop艺人能够取得他如此大的影响力了。

图派克的演艺生涯开始于20世纪90年代早期，他推出了一首说唱录音"Same Song" （同一首歌），这首歌后来作为EP发行，这是他的首张EP，图派克出现在音乐视频。他的说唱的首演后，他发表了他的第一张个人专辑《2Pacalypse Now》，这张专辑没有获得任何奖项。虽然这张专辑原本在环球唱片公司发行，现在的版权归阿马鲁娱乐拥有。这张专辑的名字参考了1979年的电影《现代启示录》。
